    Resumen

ARANO ROMERO, Salvador et al.   DEFINIENDO LA CERÁMICA PACAJES LOCAL(1150 - 1470 dC) EN EL ALTIPLANO NORTE DE LA PAZ (BOLIVIA)1. Rev. Patrim. Arqueol. [online]. 2023, vol.1, n.1, pp. 11-39. ISSN 2959-2410.

Abstract The Late Intermedíate Period is one of the least studied in the Northern Plateau in Bolivia, however, thanks to pioneering ar-chaeological work, it has been possible to define specific ceramic styles. In this work, based on the previous definitions, we present new evidence about the Pacajes that occupied Jesús de Machaca, specifically during the Local or Early Pacajes Phase (1100 - 1470 AD). The data with which we work was obtained from regional surveys with the collaboration of local people, and the ceramics were subjected to a morphological, technological and decorative analysis. The results obtained show a high diversity in all the variables identified, and allow eliminating previous generalizations such as ceramic paste color and camelid icons. Whit this, we were able to corrobórate, from the ceramic, that the Pacajes were a segmental and non-hierarchical society, which did not standardize the elabo-ration of ceramics, conversely, they diversified the morphology and technology according to the possibilities of each ayllu, and created shared icons at regional level.
