Article offers to an approach to the experience of Juventud Obrera Católica (JOC) in Uruguay, from 1938, year in which began to work this lay movement until 1960, when a new stage in the History of the Catholic Church began. The strategy of action of the JOC was based on the "methodology" of the "revision of life", created by the Belgian priest, Joseph Cardijn (1882-1967), who left from the permanent attention on the situations of the reality in which they lived los/as young in the average worker thence to look for solutions his concrete problems. The work consists of one first partT that presents/displays to the jocismo as interna-tional movement and by the end of tracks its origins in Uruguay the decade of 1930. The second part refers to the evolution in the development of the JOC, paternalistas positions and "pro-employer's associations" to others of greater commitment with the problematic one of the workers.
