Brief study on the participation of women in the war of Independence (1809-1825), actors hide away by the official historiography, despite its important weight in the development of the war that ended 300 years of Spanish colonialism. It analyzes the role of the 'Republiquetas' commanded by native farmers who embraced American independence, putting at the disposal of the native commanders, their farms and their Indians. It emphasizes the figure of Juana Azurduy de Padilla, who blew himself up to the independentist cause, her children and her own husband
